Apple announces updated 13-inch MacBook Pro, with M2 chip

At WWDC 2022 this week, Apple revealed an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro, now with the M2 chip. The previous model was revealed back in November 2020 at the start of the Apple Silicon transition and had the M1 chip from the start. This release is basically a processor spec bump, as the design, ports and features are the same as the outgoing model.

The M2 chip offers a 18% faster CPU, 35% faster GPU, 40% faster Neural Engine and 50% more memory bandwidth. This is all compared to the M1 chip. The M2 chip can now handle up to 24GB memory, compared to the 16GB from the M1 chip.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro offers up to 20 hours of batter life on one charge, when playing video.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro will be available to order from next month, prices in the US starting at $1,299. In the UK, starting at £1,349.
