Yesterday, Apple announced an updated version of the Apple TV 4K, now with the same A15 Bionic chip from the iPhone 13 and iPad mini 6. The new box now has support for HDR10+ and comes with a new updated Siri Remote. Apple has even dropped the price, from $179 to $129 in the US and here in the UK, from £169 to £149.

The A15 Bionic chip allows the Apple TV 4K to have “faster performance and more fluid gameplay,” so Apple says and replaces the A12 Bionic chip that Apple put in the last generation. The second generation Apple TV 4K was launchd back in April 2021. Apple has also made the Apple TV thinner, lighter and now without a fan.

The Siri Remote has been updated to now use a USB-C connector to charge, but Apple will no longer be including a charging cable in the box, as it has done prior.

Apple is also offering two different models of the Apple TV 4K. The base model has 64GB storage, twice as much as before. However, it lacks an Ethernet port and support for Thread. The next model up has 128GB storage and does have an Ethernet port and supports Thread.

Customers can order the new updated Apple TV 4K now and will be shipping out to customers starting Friday 4th November 2022.
