Apple Maps EV Routing in Ford EVs now works with Tesla Superchargers

Ford EV drivers in the US who have previously had access to the Apple Maps EV Routing feature in CarPlay, can now use the feature to direct them to chargers that use the NACS connector. The main chargers which use the NACS are the Tesla Superchargers, but more stations are adopting it.

Rollout for ‌Apple Maps‌ EV Routing has been pretty slow going, due to the work required by the car manufacturers to implement it. So far, this is limited to a select few models, including the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Ford F-150 Lightning and the Porsche Taycan. It also only seems to work in the US for now and despite being launched in 2023, the rollout has been pretty slow.

In Ford EVs, owners will need to specify a preference within Apple Maps for NACS chargers and for vehicles with CCS, an adaptor will be required to use the NACS chargers.

Apple Maps‌‌ EV Routing lets the car and the iPhone talk with each other about the battery level, elevation and more to work out where the best charging stops are.
