Apple might add USB-C to the base iPad

Apple might add USB-C to the base iPad

In Apple’s iPad lineup, the only model left that is still using the Lightning port is the base model iPad which retails for $329 / £319. However, to being the entry level iPad inline with the iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad Pro models, Apple might be charging the entry level iPad to USB-C later this year.

This news comes from 9to5Mac sources, which claim that as soon as this autumn, Apple could launch a new updated base model iPad, with USB-C and a larger screen. This is reported be the same resolution screen found in the latest iPad Air, it would even have 5G for the cellular models and the latest A14 Bionic Chip, also found in the iPad Air.

However, this report doesn’t mention if anything is going to change with the design, or work with the second generation Apple Pencil, but these rumoured update would make the cheapest iPad at least a bit more modern.
