Apple yesterday released tvOS 16.1 for the Apple TV HD and all generations of the Apple TV 4K. The update is pretty minor but does bring the platform up to speed with the rest of Apple’s lineup. The update makes Siri easier to use and can find sports scores and more and the Photos app now supports the new Shared Photo Library.

To update your Apple TV, launch Settings > System > Software Update.

Siri can now help you find more information about music, apps, sports scores and much more. The UI of Siri has changed too, rather than taking up the whole bottom of the screen, it is now in the bottom right corner, which set less space up.

Just like with iOS 16.1, tvOS 16.1 now supports Shared Photo Library, which allows you to share and collaborate on one photo library with your family.

Apple TV has always functioned as a home hub and now, Matter is now supported allowing many more devices to be used in your Apple home setup.

Release Notes

tvOS 16.1 introduces a completely redesigned Siri experience, brings Shared Photo Library to the biggest screen in the home, and lets you work out and meditate with Apple Fitness+ with iPhone.
