Apple Watch Series 7 announced, with larger screens and better durability

Apple at the Tuesday event has announced a new Apple Watch, with the Series 7. This new generation was rumoured to be larger, with a brand new squared off design and most notably, it was touted to not be compatible with any existing Apple Watch bands.

Thankfully, this new Series 7 does work with all existing bands. The case design is that familiar rounded square shape, however here the cases have increased in sizes, with 41mm and 45mm options now and the screens are larger too, taking full advantage of that space. Those larger screens are now more durable and brighter as well.

Apple is making some small, yet important changes to the Apple Watch this year, things like a dust resistance rating for the first time, at IP6X, the screen geometry has been redesigned to make it much more crack resistant. Inside, it is unclear yet what S chip Apple has gone with.

Charging is also zippier too, up to 33% faster.

The new Apple Watch Series 7 isn’t available quite yet, it is due to go on sale later this autumn with prices starting at $399 in the US. UK prices are yet to be revealed.
