Be.EV acquires Mer in the UK, adding 1,600 new charging bays

Be.EV acquires Mer UK

UK charging network Be.EV has recently acquired another large player in the space, Mer. Mer has been in operation in the UK since 2020 and until this acquisition, it was owned by Statkraft, a Norwegian utility company.

Be.EV, has for the most part been operating in the north of England and the midlands, leaving the south somewhat uncovered. In acquiring Mer, this has expanded Be.EV's network footprint quite dramatically overnight, adding 450 new sites and 1,600 charging bays, meaning a total 680 sites and 2,500 bays in the UK alone.

Mer will be completely and fully integrated into the Be.EV network in due course, but for the short term, nothing will actually change. Existing Mer sites will continue to operate as usual. Going forward, the sites will be rebranded and upgraded where needed.

Once fully integrated, Be.EV's pricing rates will take effect, which is currently 39p/kWh between 7pm-7am for all users and at any time of day for subscribers.
