Sainsbury's Smart Charge partners with Octopus Electroverse

This week, Sainsbury's and Octopus have announced that the Sainsbury's Smart Charge network now works with Octopus Electroverse. Electroverse is one of the most popular roaming EV charging networks in the UK and offers a very simple and easy way to find where chargers are as well as pay for it on your next energy bill.

One of the main benefits of using the Sainsbury's Smart Charge network is the opportunity to collect Nectar points, and this won't change if you use Electroverse to start a charge. When you look at a Smart Charge location on the Electroverse app, is shows how you can collect the points afterwards. Simply scan the QR code on the screen to collect your points.

Sainsbury's launched the Smart Charge network earlier this year in January and has since installed its 500th bay in November. Pricing is on the slightly higher side, at 75p/kWh, but all CCS2 bays are up to 150kW. Most sites do include at least one CHAdeMO socket, although the standard is slowly becoming obsolete.

The other thing to bear in mind is, that at the moment, starting a charge from the Electroverse app is not yet available - but Octopus says this will be soon. For now, you can only use the Electrocard.
