BMW has removed the option of a diesel engine from some BMW and Mini cars

BMW has removed the option of a diesel engine from a few BMW cars and Mini today in the UK as the demand for diesel dwindles. BMW has spoken to Autocar today about this and a couple of cars have been mode petrol only, including the 2 Series Coupe and 2 Series Convertible as well as the Countryman D in the Mini lineup.

The main reason for removing the diesel is the Euro 6d emissions standard and to be compliant, all the engines need upgrading and BMW has chosen to simply remove the engines from sale as both the 2 Series and Countyman are due new versions in 2021. However, even though the Countyman D was given a new Euro 6d emissions compliant engine in July this year, the company has just removed it due to lock of customer demand.

Other car companies have recently removed diesel options this year due to lack of customer demand, includes Ford in October, Seat in September, Skoda in May plus many more.
