Chery to launch third brand in the UK, to compliment Omoda and Jaecoo

Chery, the owner of Omoda and Jaecoo is due to launch its third car brand in the UK, called Lepas. The brand is excepted to launch in the UK later this year with a more budget offering than what Omoda and Jaecoo target.

When speaking to Car Dealer at the Shanghai Motor Show this week, a spokesperson from the brand couldn't share specifics about expansion into the UK, but "plans are progressing", with an update coming "in due course."

Chery has a number of sub-brands available to it and it's expected that the first Lepas model will be a rebadged Tiggo 4 Pro, a car similar in size to the Dacia Duster. The 4 Pro is already sold in existing RHD markets, such as South Africa and Australia.

The 4 Pro is sold in Australia for the equlivent of £13,000, but due to import fees and other costs, it'll likely cost more than this, but shouldn't be a significant increase.

It's also sold with petrol engines only, seemingly keeping the Omoda and Jaecoo brands for electric options. In Australia, its available with a 1.5-litre four cylinder petrol engine and a turbochaged version in higher specced models.
