Fiat 600 Hybrid now on sale, offering a cheaper alternative to the EV 600e

Just like its Stellantis stable mate, Fiat has taken the same steps as Jeep when it comes to its originally, electric only models. Back when the Jeep Avenger was first introduced, the plan at the time was to have it as a pioneering EV only model, but after a while, Jeep eventually gave in to the pressures from customers who were complaining about the lack of a combustion version. Jeep was going to sell combustion Avenger models in countries where the EV infrastructure was poor, such as Italy - but the UK is not one of those places.

Now Fiat has also made its 600 crossover also available as a hybrid, the first model being launched back in March. Fiat has a new version of the 600 with a 1.2-litre three cylinder petrol engine, making 135bhp and this brings it down to £24,975. There is a 28bhp electric motor, small battery pack and 48V electric system.

Fiat quote 57.6mpg for either the 100bhp or 135bhp and 0-60mph is handled in 8.5 seconds with a top speed of 124mph.

Inside, Fiat offer a lot as standard, the base 600 Hybrid gets 17-inch alloy wheels, multi-coloured seats - which are heated. The La Prima model gets 18-inch alloys, massaging drivers seats, wireless phone charging and much more.

Prices start at £23,975 for the base 100bhp model and this new 135bhp version is £24,975. The electric Fiat 600e starts at £32,995.
