New Nissan Micra costs the same as the Renault 5 in the UK

Nissan Micra EV UK Pricing

Nissan has recently revealed the pricing for the new electric Micra, ahead of it going on sale this September. The Micra is built on the same platform as the Renault 5 and is even built in the same factory in France and shares near identical specifications and batteries. Until now, it hasn't been exactly clear what Nissan would do in terms of pricing, but we now know that it is the same as the R5, at £22,995.

However, in the few days since Nissan revealed the pricing, the Micra is now eligible for the Government’s Electric Car Grant discount of £1,500 - meaning the price is now £21,495. Both the Renault 5 and the Nissan Micra are now the same price as the entry level Volkswagen Polo.

The specifications for the electric Nissan Micra are unsurprisingly the same as the Renault. The base model has a 40kWh battery with 198 miles of range and a front mounted electric motor making 118bhp. Charging speed is rated at 80kW DC.

The larger capacity model has a 52kWh battery with 260 miles of range and a more powerful 148bhp electric motor. Charging speed is slightly faster, at 100kW.

Nissan will also offer three trim levels with varying levels of equipment, with the base Engage model being fitted with a heat pump, 18-inch alloy wheels, 10.1-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
