Fiat could reengineer the Citroën Ami as the Topolino

Fiat could be on its way to be making its own version of the Citroën Ami, with a rename as the Topolino. Fiat is part of the Stellantis group as is Citroën and Opel and the Italian company has expressed interest in making its own version of the quadricycle. Fiat boss Olivier François has confirmed to Auto Express that the company is currently engaged in discussions with Citroën and Opel.

The Citroën Ami was never intended to launch here in the UK, the company initially designed it to be a good way for 14 year old children to get around, so long as they have a ‘voitures sans permis’ licence. However, thanks to unprecedented demand Citroën launched the Ami here in the UK last year and can be had for £19.99 per month when leased from Citroën UK.

Fiat is planning on a more overhaul approach to the Ami, which is a bit different to what Opel did with the Ami back in 2021. The Opel Rocks-e is simply a light restyling effort of the Ami, with new wheel designs and redesigned front area. Fiat is planning on a fabric roof and other features most likely, many of which havent been revealed yet.

Fiat boss, François stressed that one of the main issues will be getting the production volumes up to where Fiat can feel confident to commit to the project. So, who knows we might have the Ami to choose from and then the Fiat Topolino.
