Ford wins What Car? Car of the year 2020 with the new Ford Puma

The annual What Car? awards took place last night and Ford has won Car of the Year for 2020, with the brand new Ford Puma compact SUV.

Ford has only just launched the new car and What Car? said:

“The judges praised the Puma for being fun to drive, cleverly packaged and well priced. Additionally, What Car?’s independent True MPG tests showed it to be extremely economical in real-world driving, thanks to its mild hybrid technology.”

What Car?

The last time Ford won the What Car? Car of the Year was back in 2009 with the then new Ford Fiesta.

“As a small SUV, the Ford Puma competes in one of the fastest-growing sectors of the car market. And crucially, it excels in all the areas that are important to buyers, according to our research. Thanks to its sharp handling, gutsy engine and clever mild hybrid technology, the Puma offers a mix and fun and frugality not previously seen. Plus, it’s very well priced and equipped, and as practical as it is stylish. In short, it’s truly outstanding.”

Ford is taking orders for the new Puma, which starts at £20,545 for the entry level Titanium model, deliveries are starting sometime this month. Ford is offering two other trim levels, ST-Line and ST-Line X.

The standard Titanium car comes with 17-inch alloys in black, LED day time running lights, cornering lights, leather steering wheel, handbrake and gear knob. It also has SYNC 3 integrated with CarPlay, Android Auto and voice assistance.

Ford’s ‘Quickclear’ heated windscreen is also here as well as multiple driving modes for Normal, Sport, Eco, Slippery and Trail. Also as standard are foldable mirrors with puddle lamps and Emergency Braking.
