Google could be working on a new Chromecast with Google TV device soon, with a new product with a code name of “Boreal” in the works. 9to5Google have reported that the new device which will be released later this year.

This leak doesn’t touch on any specs, but it could be more powerful to handle various video formats such as AVI, which will be a requirement on Android TV come 31st March.

Google is likely to offer the new Chromecast as a replacement for the existing model, rather than a separate model that would be more powerful, as the current one already supports 4K HDR.
