Honda announces brand new CR-V for 2023

Honda has announced the all new CR-V SUV this week, and is coming soon to Europe. The company has announced the new car in the US for now and has been rebuilt and completely re-engineered from the ground up.

The new CR-V will go on sale in Europe in 2023 and made its debut this week over in the US. It is around six years since Honda revealed the current generation CR-V and has been on sale here in the UK for around five years. When it goes on sale in the UK, it’ll be available with hybrid only powertrain. However, in the US it’ll be available as a hybrid and as a petrol only car.

There will be a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine on offer, mated to two electric motors which makes 204bhp and 247lb ft torque.

Honda has taken some inspiration from its Ridgeline pick-up truck and Passport SUV, both of which are US only exclusive models. To this note, Honda has made the CR-V larger. It’s 69mm longer, the wheelbase is 41mm longer and its 10mm wider too.

Honda hasn’t revealed any trim information for the Europe and UK market, but in the US it’ll come in EX, EX-L, Sport and Sport Touring. The entry level models will come with black grille with chrome surround, body matching wing mirrors, roof spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels. Top spec models will get mesh pattern on the grille, rectangular exhaust pipes and 19-inch wheels.

Moving inside, there is lot that is similar to the Civic. There is a 7-inch digital drivers display, USB-A and USB-C chargers for maximum compatibility and the choice of either a 7-inch or 9-inch display, both supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
