Honda did experiment in the small electric car space back in 2020 with the flawed, but cute Honda e. It had around 100 miles of range and was pretty expensive, at least in the UK.
However, since discontinuing it in 2023, Honda has only has the e:NY1 on sale, which hasn't been that well received.
At Goodwood Festival of Speed two weeks ago, Honda debuted the Super EV Concept for the first time, which is a look at what the company could do for a small city EV. However, Honda has been moving fast, as now it has announced the new N-ONE e, the production version of the Super EV Concept, for Japan.
Honda will be taking pre-orders for the car on the 1st August and for now at least, it is going to be available in Japan only, although this could of course change.
Honda hasn't yet revealed the battery specifications or the powertrain, but it has said that the range is over 270km (167 miles) when based on the WLTC cycle.
On the front are two charging ports, with the right one for AC slower charging and the left one for faster DC charging. Thankfully, Honda has also integrated vehicle-to-home (V2H) for emergency situations.
Inside, it has a pretty minimalist look with two-spoke steering wheel, simple dashboard and on the base G model in Japan, no central screen. There's also physical buttons for the climate control and simple gear selection buttons.
The L trim level adds a 9-inch infotainment screen, which looks very similar to what you would find the in the Jazz for example.
