Hyundai announces brand new Ioniq 6 saloon to rival the Model 3

Hyundai has announced the all new Ioniq 6, which is due to go on sale in the UK next year. The all electric saloon has a very sleek, rakish design akin to that of the Audi A7 – with its swooping roofline. Hyundai is going after the Tesla Model 3 with the Ioniq 6 and is the latest model to join the EV lineup Hyundai has.

The Ioniq 6 will join the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 crossover, which has a more retro theme. The Ioniq 6 is Hyundai’s first all electric saloon, with the company building up its EV reputation in the SUV space with the popular Kona.

The new Ioniq 6 goes head to head with the Polestar 2, Tesla Model 3 and the BMW i4.

Other Hyundai cars built on the same E-GMP platform have batteries ranging in size from 58kWh up to 77.4kWh. The largest battery size offers up to around 300 miles on one charge. This platform underpins the likes of the Kia EV6 and Genesis GV60.

The new Ioniq 6 is due to go on sale here in the UK next year, with prices between £40,000 and £50,000.
