Apple Music won’t see a number of the independent music artists available on the service as they are unhappy with the royalty fee deals. Set for release on June 30, Apple Music may be missing a few artists. Beggars Group have stated that it is “very concerned, especially for artist releasing albums in the next three months.” In the long free trail for Apple Music, the company won’t be paying out any royalties for the played music.

Beggars is a company which manages and owns a number of small record companies such as XL Recordings, Rough Trade Matador and 4AD. Under these smaller record companies, artists such as Adele, Dizzee Rascal Jack White, M.I.A, Queens of the Stone Age, Tanginess, Tyler the Creator, Sigur Rós and many more. Beggars have responded to news about Apple Music:

“Apple have been a wonderful partner for the last decade, and we confidently trust they will continue to be so. We have recently been in discussions with Apple Music about proposed terms for their new service. In may ways the deal structure is very progressive, but unfortunately it was created without reference to use, or as far as we know any independents, and such unsurprisingly presents problems for us, and for out upcoming artist releases.”

Apple seems to have specific terms for its music service. The company will pay out 71.5% of revenues to labels, then a fraction of that will then go to the artist. But for the first three months of a users free trial, Apple won’t pay labels and users won’t be paying Apple, so no one gets any money.

Apple Music is set to launch later this month on June 30th for £9.99/$9.99/€9.99 per month for one user and £14.99/$14.99/€14.99 per month for families of up to six people.
