Mitie to install new EV chargers at UK employment centres

Service provider, Mitie has announced it has won a new contract to install 50 charging points at 120 employment centres in the UK. The company has been hired by the UK Department for Work and Pensions, with the contract being worth £4.3 million. It is unclear if these EV chargers will only be for the use of the employees who work at the employment centres, or for visitors too. Considering it is using tax payer funds, it would be good if it is for everyone too.

“Getting workplace car parks ready and welcoming with charging facilities is critical for the transition to an electric future. We are proud to partner with DWP as they lead the way in demonstrating their commitment to net zero with EV ready sites.”

Pradyumna Pandit – Managing Director, Mitie

Mitie themselves use a large array of electric vehicles, with 3,000 in current use. Mitie ordered 655 Vauxhall Vivaro-e vans back in 2021 and makes use of an EV gritter.
