NCAP has given new Dacia Jogger one star in latest tests

The new Dacia Jogger was released around a month ago here in the UK and has had some glowing reviews, its the cheapest seven seater on the UK market right now and is based on the popular Sandero Stepway. However, in some recent Euro NCAP safety tests the car has scored pretty badly.

Euro NCAP has given the Dacia Jogger one star out of five, with poor adult safety and poor child safety. It is especially bad in the back, as the car doest not have a seatbelt reminder and the side-curtain airbags do not provide good enough protection for back seat passengers.

“For a family car, this safety performance is disappointing. The vehicle may be more affordable than others in the same category, but in terms of safety, it appears that you do get what you pay for. In this case, not only is the Dacia Jogger lacking the active safety features that buyers expect as standard, but even some of its basic passive safety features aren’t up to the industry standard set by the vast majority of car makers.”

Matthew Avery – Thatcham Research chief research strategy officer

Euro NCAP said that the Dacia Jogger got 70% for adult safety and 69% for child safety, it also got 41% for vulnerable road user protection and 39% for its safety assist systems.

The Dacia Jogger starts at £14,995 in the UK, has seven seats, has air conditioning, rear parking sensors, cruise control and auto headlights as standard and can be had on a PCP deal for under £200 per month.
