Kia Proceed pulled from sale in the UK

Kia has this week removed the Kia Proceed from sale in the UK, due to it not selling in overly large numbers. Kia launched the Proceed back in 2008 and since its refresh in 2019, the model became an estate version of the regular Ceed hatchback. Kia has said that the company needs to “focus on the most popular models”.

With the focus on ZEV and making sure there are more electric models on the road, Kia and its sister brands Genesis and Hyundai have become market leaders for electric vehicles and, quite possibly a lot of resources within the company is focused on new EV models.

"The Proceed has been an important model for Kia in the compact family car segment, emphasising Kia’s strengths for quality, practicality and eye-catching design. However, right-hand-drive versions of the Proceed only account for a relatively small proportion of overall Ceed production and sales.”

Kia

Kia has said though that the Xceed will remain on sale in the UK and this represents around 47% of all Ceed model sales. Kia has sold 10,000 Proceed models since 2019 and while this sounds like a lot, this pales in comparison to the 70,000 Ceed and Xceed models sold in the same time period.

Existing orders or the Proceed will still be proceeded, but new orders are no longer possible. Kia will still have some stock for customers to choose from.
