New 2021 Mercedes C-Class now on sale in the UK

New 2021 Mercedes C-Class now on sale in the UK

Mercedes has introduced a new update to its mid-size executive saloon car, the C-Class. Now in its sixth generation, the new C-Class is now electrified only, meaning it still has combustion engines, but it only comes in versions that are electricity assisted, meaning mild-hybrid technology. The new car is also a lot more expensive than the outgoing car, the current model starts at £28,035, but this new version is now from £38,785.

As mentioned, the new C-Class only has hybrid engine options now, there are three to choose from with a 1.5-litre petrol with 204bhp, a 2.0-litre diesel with 258bhp or a 3.0-litre diesel with 265bhp. The latter engine is only available on the top rung model, the C300d. The mid-hybrid system uses a 48V belt-integrated starter generator which can harvest energy from deceleration to give a boost of up to 20bhp extra.

Once the initial models are released, Mercedes has a plug in hybrid version of the C-Class planned, with the C300e which will have an EV only range of around 62 miles from a 25.4kWh battery pack.

In terms of standard equipment, the C200 and C220d entry cars come standard with a large 11.9-inch infotainment system, as well as a 12.3-inch display for the driver. 17-inch alloy wheels as standard too and LED headlights.

Moving up the models to the AMG Line, this adds larger 18-inch alloy wheels, some design touches all around the outside in the AMG style, privacy glass, leather steering wheel and twin exhausts. Right at the top of the range is the Premium Plus, which has even larger 19-inch alloys, panoramic sunroof and a bevy of safety features, including active steering assist, traffic sign assist, lane assist and more.

The new C-Class is on sale now in the UK, with prices starting at £38,785, going up to £46,700.
