New electric BYD Atto 2 launched for Europe

Chinese car manufacturer, BYD has announced the brand new, all electric Atto 2 for the European market this week, with decent range and specifcations. The Atto 2 will sit inbetween the larger Atto 3 SUV and the Dolphin hatchback in the company's current EV lineup and will rival the Mini Aceman and Vauxhall Frontera.

BYD willl have two versions available, with the entry level battery being made the only choice intitlaly. From the initial launch, it'll have a 45.1kWh battery pack, offering up to 194 miles. There is also a single motor, which makes 174bhp and drives the front wheels only.

The battery used is the BYD Blade battery system, something the company has been well regarded for pioneering. They are very well performing, incredibly safe and will practically withstand being punctured, without any repercussions. Other manufacturers, such as Omoda, Tesla and KGM used BYD batteries in their models.

Later on down the line, there will be a longer range model, but ghe specifications on this are yet to be announced.

Inside, the Atto 2 gets a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, which in like all other BYD models it can rotate between portrait and landscape.

BYD hasn't revealed pricing for the Atto 2 yet, but considering how its other cars are priced, it could be less than £24,000.
