Last week, Volkswagen added a new entry level trim of the ID.4, called ‘City Pure’ and the big thing is that this model is in the right price bracket to qualify for the latest reduced version of the government grant for EVs. Coming at just under the £35,000 limit, the ID.4 City Pure is £34,650.

This new less expensive model has a 148bhp motor, a 52kWh battery and 213 miles of range. This trim can be had with the Pure Performance motor, with 168bhp. However, this does bump the price up to £36,030 meaning it is then not eligible for the government grant. This model does have a fair amount of kit, despite being the entry level model. It has LED headlights and brake lights, 10-inch infotainment screen with Discover Navigation Pro, front parking sensors, lane assist as well as adaptive cruise control.
