New Smart #1 SUV will be available to order in December 2022

Smart has recently planned on relaunching its brand, once a maker of less expensive cars and then up until lately, a couple of electric only versions of its existing cars were offered. Earlier in April, Smart unveiled its all new electric SUV called the #1.

The company is now part owned by Chinese group Geely, which also runs Volvo and Lotus as well as being owned still by Mercedes-Benz, its original founder. The Smart #1 is the company’s first new vehicle since 2014 and is a sign of things to come from the company.

Smart has announced that the order books for the #1 will open later this year in December, with deliveries for customer starting in the middle of 2023. The first 100 cars of the Launch Edition are set to come to the UK first, with contrasting gold roof, 19-inch alloy wheels andtwo-tone leather seats.

The Smart #1 will have a 66kWh battery with a range of 440km (273 miles). The car also supports 150kW rapid charging, meaning the Smart #1 can be charged from 10-80% in around 30 minutes. The #1 has been fitted with a single motor at the back of the car, which produces 268bhp, with a top speed of 112mph. At the time of writing, Smart has not yet revealed a time for 0-60mph.

Prices are due to be revealed later this year.
