Possible new Omoda 9 debuted in China, with 869 mile range

Exeed Yaoguang or new Omoda 9 for 2026

The Omoda 9 was only launched in the UK this summer, but a lesser known fact is that it is actually branded as an Exeed in China. Exeed a luxury focused brand, is one of the many that Chery has underneath it and some cars are chosen to be exported worldwide and rebranded as Omoda or Jaecoo.

The Omoda 9 is sold as the Exeed Yaoguang in China and in the last few weeks, the company revealed a new 'Global Edition' version, which judging by the name - is destined for export markets.

This version of the car was launched in China back in August 2024, but is only now being filtered down for worldwide markets.

For the front design, the grille is smother than before with new D shaped patterns underneath the headlights. The engine is a 1.5-litre unit making 154bhp and 220Nm of torque. There are various trim levels with different sized batteries, ranging from a 19.53kWh to a 34.46kWh battery for up to 200km (124 miles) of CLTC EV only range for the largest pack.

Inside, it has a 24.6-inch dual screen setup running the Chery Lion 5.0 operating system.

At the moment, it isn't known if, or even when this new updated model would come to the UK as the existing model was only launched in the middle of 2025.
