Report: M1 MacBook Air helped Apple sell 6.5m laptops in Q3 2021

It has been reported by Strategy Analytics that the M1 MacBook Air has helped ship around 6.5 million laptops in the third quarter of 2021, thanks to strong demand for the fan-less, M1 machine. Thanks to the boost in sales, Apple is now number four in the world, in terms of laptop shipments.

Lenovo was third place for Q3 2021, with 5% year on year growth, but Apple saw 10% growth in that time, with 10% market share. During the earnings call for Q3 2021, Apple CEO Tim Cook said there was strong demand for the M1 MacBook Air.

Just last month, Apple revealed the new MacBook Pro with M1 Max and M1 Pro chips, as well as a return of some ports, such as MagSafe, HDMI and the SD card slot.
