Samsung announces two entry level phones, the A12 and A02S

This week, Samsung announced two new entry level handsets for the European market, the A12 and the A02S. Compared to other phones with similar specs, they are priced well – at below €179 (£160).

A12

For the price, both phones have good specs – the A12 is taking from where the A11 left off, with a 6.5-inch screen, 8MP front facing camera, 8-core processor and a 5,000mAh battery. There is also a finger print sensor on the side. On the back are four lenses plus a flash. The main sensor is a large 48MP, plus a 5MP ultra wide and 2 supplemental lenses for macro and depth at 2MP each.

The A12 will start at €179 (£160) for 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM. Bumping up to €199 (£178) for 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM.

A02S

The A02S is the cheaper of the two, it has the same display and battery as the A12 and the same amount of RAM and storage at the entry level. Where it does fall short is on is the camera system, on the back there are three lenses with the main being 13MP and two 2MP sensors for depth and macro. The A02S also lacks USB-C and a fingerprint sensor, instead it goes back to microUSB.

The A12 will start at €150 (£160) for 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM.

Both models will be available in early 2021, with the A12 in January 2021 and Febuary 2021 for the A02S.
