Tesla Cybertruck finally enters production

The long-awaited all electric Tesla Cybertruck has finally entered production. after being announced back in 2019 with an initial date of 2021 to start production. However, over the years things got in the way and complications with production meant the the Cybertruck was delayed. However, on 17th July the truck has started production at the Tesla Gigafactory in Texas.

Tesla is going up against the established companies when it comes to trucks, such as the best seller Ford F-150 and the Cybertruck definitely goes against norms for a pickup truck. With a wedge shaped design, no front grille, angles windows and sleek lighting bar. The materials used are just as out there, using “ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel” which Tesla says is bulletproof against 9mm bullets.

In terms of batteries and motors, Tesla will use an array of one, two or three motors with the rear wheel drive version doing 0-60mph in 6.5 seconds with a range of 250 miles. Towing capacity is at 3,400kg with a payload of 1,360kg. This one is supposed to be priced from $40,000 or £30,000.

The middle model will have all wheel drive, 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds and a towing capacity of 4,500kg. This model is going to be priced from $49,000 or £38,000.

The top of the range car, will use the new triple motor system found on the Model S Plaid, which is set to have 500 miles of range, 0-60mph in 2.9 seconds with a towing capacity of 6,350kg. This model is set to be priced from $69,900 or £53,000.

On the back is a lockable cover, with 2,800 litres of load space. The Cybertruck is going to be available in the US, but sales in the UK and Europe have not yet been confirmed.
