Tesla Model Y range increases and production has begun

The Tesla Model Y was announced last year and is yet to be released for delivery, but Tesla has some news on the range of the SUV and when we can expect delivery.

On the US site, Tesla has updated the range from 280 miles to 315 miles, due to some advancements in efficiency Tesla has managed to get out fo the all wheel drive system.

“Due to continued engineering progress of the Model Y all-wheel drive (AWD), we have been able to increase its maximum EPA range to 315 miles, compared to our previous estimate of 280 miles. This extends Model Y’s lead as the most energy efficient electric SUV in the world.”

Model Y is also ahead of schedule according to Tesla and production has started this month. Again, on the US site it now suggests deliveries will be in March. “first deliveries begin in March 2020.”

“Model Y production ramp started in January 2020, ahead of schedule”

Here in the UK we may have to wait, as the website still has no information about the configurator – we have reached out to Tesla for a comment, however.
