The Tesla Model Y hit the top of the charts for sales in September in Europe, with 29,367 units registered, up by 227% since September 2021. Tesla has seen explosive growth in the UK and Europe, becoming the best selling cars in various markets here.

This is the first time Tesla has had a best selling car in Europe, selling more than the Peugeot 208 and Dacia Sandero in September 2022. What’s surprising is that both of these models are significantly cheaper than the Model Y.

Gigafactory Berlin is where the Model Y units are being produced for the European market, and Tesla has recently increased the rate of production. In September Tesla confirmed that the factory is churning out 2,000 Model Y cars per week. Within time, there are plans to increase this to 5,000 per week.
