Today marks 25 years since the original iMac G3 was debuted back in 1998. Steve Jobs was brought back to Apple in the late 90s and needed something big to help bring the company back out of near bankruptcy. The iMac was a complete departure from computers at the time, which were beige and boxy. Apple wanted to make something more interesting and even after all this time, it is still considered an icon.

At the time the iMac was debuted, it had a lot of industry firsts on a consumer computer, such as USB, FireWire and the CD drive in place of the floppy drive. The computer had a 15-inch CRT display, 4GB hard drive, 32MB of RAM and two USB ports.

Apple launched the all new iMac 24-inch with the M1 chip back in April 2021 which is available in in seven colours; green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and silver. Apple is expected to launch a new updated iMac, but with a M3 chip rather than the M2.
