Ubiquiti debuts new UniFi U6 Mesh Pro

Ubiquiti has recently debuted the new UniFi U6 Mesh Pro access point, which is essentially an updated AC Mesh Pro - a device which was launched back in 2016. The hardware has the same plastic slab design, with two Ethernet ports on the bottom, one for PoE in and one for a data passthrough, but it doesn't have PoE passthrough.

The old AC Mesh Pro is still on the store for $199 and supports 802.11ac (WiFi 5), has a 185 m² (2,000 ft²) range, can handle 250+ devices and has six spatial streams. The new U6 Mesh Pro is the same $199, has the same range but can now handle 350+ clients. However, it has less spatial streams, with four. This might not make a huge difference day to day, but it is odd to see Ubiquiti scale back some of the specs. The antenna gain is also the same, with 8dBi on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. This isn't a WiFi 7 or 6E device, so it doesn't support 6GHz.

The new U6 Mesh Pro is now available from the official Ubiquiti store for $199 in the US or £190.80 in the UK.
