Ubiquiti announces new U7 Pro Outdoor with 6GHz, available on 13th Jan

Ubiquti this week has annoucbned the new U7 Pro Outdoor, which takes the existing design of the already quite new U7 Outdoor and adds more capability, support for 6GHz wireless and has additional mounting options. The dimensions are nearly the same between the two APs, with the length and height being identical, but the Pro model being slightly thicker at 66.5mm vs 54.5mm on the standard version.

Of course the big upgrade here is the addition of 6GHz, which was missing from the standard U7 Outdoor model. Using 6GHz outdoors needs various software systems in place to make sure that power outputs are not exceeded. The other outdoor models such as the E7 Campus and E7 Audience are the only other models that can support 6GHz outdoors.

The other difference is the mount of the U7 Pro Outdoor, which allows it to be articulated and aimed at a specific area. It also has a more robust waterproof gland for the cable entry.

Prices for the new U7 Pro Outdoor are at £258 in the UK and will be available on 13th January. In the US it'll also be available on the same day and costs $279.
