Ubiquiti launches new UniFi Mesh access points

If you haven’t heard of Ubiquiti, you’re definitely not the only one. The company doesn’t sell to consumers directly, apart from its subdivision ULabs which make the Amplifi home mesh system.

New UniFi Mesh access points

UniFi is Ubiquiti’s range of enterprise grade indoor and outdoor WiFi access points, offering advanced features you’d expect to find in much pricier hardware and licensed software. Today’s announcement adds two new models to the range and they offer mesh technology.

Press Release

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 01, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Ubiquiti Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:UBNT) (“Ubiquiti”) is excited to announce UniFi Mesh technology — a powerful multi-hop, self-healing mesh product line that now greatly expands the application use of Ubiquiti’s industry leading software-defined-networking (“SDN”) platform. UniFi Mesh technology now simplifies WiFi infrastructure deployments by enabling nearly unlimited application use including towns, stadiums, conference halls, and concert venues.

Models

UniFi AC Mesh AP

While we will post more photos later this week, one of the two new models is the UniFi AC Mesh AP. This is a small device with two external antennas and intended to be mounted to a pole or external sector or omni antennas, using the built in coaxial fittings.

Powering the Mesh AP is done with power over ethernet (POE), this model is compatible with 802.af POE and 24V passive POE.

UniFi AC Mesh Pro AP

The second model is the much larger Mesh Pro AP, offering much faster MIMO performance and features 3×3 dual band radios.

Availability

Both model are available for pre-order today and shipments will happen in November and December.
