Updated Kia EV6 launches with refreshed design, increased range and faster charging

Kia has launched the new, updated EV6 today which features an updated design which has taken some styling cues from newer Kia models, such as the EV9 and EV3. The new car features quite a few improvements such as faster charging, a larger battery, increased range and updated interior design. Prices for the new EV6 start at £45,575 in the UK and this is around £300 more than the outgoing model.

Battery and Range

Every version of the EV6 now has a larger battery, jumping up from a 77.4kWh pack, to 84kWh. Other eGMP models within the Hyundai Motor Group have also seen this increase. This new battery helps boost the WLTP quoted range from 328 miles to 361 miles, which is a welcome change. The EV6 still uses the advanced 800V architecture and charging speeds have also been increased, from 239kW DC to 258kW DC. This means 200 miles of range can be added in just 15 minutes.

Trims

The EV6 is available in three trim levels, Air, GT-Line and GT-Line S. The high performance 577bhp EV6 GT hasn't been refreshed just yet, but will be in 2025.

The Air will cost from £45,575 and has 361 miles of range. This version comes with two 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay, adjustable one pedal driving, vehicle-to-Load (V2L), heated steering wheel, heated seats and much more.

Jumping to the GT-Line costs £48,575 and has 361 miles of range. This adds GT-Line styling, privacy glass, GT-Line steering wheel finished in artificial leather, metal pedals, wireless phone charger and adaptive headlights.

At the top of the range is the GT-Line S, which costs £53,675 and has 347 miles of range. This one adds a powered tailgate, electrically adjustable steering wheel, sunroof, fingerprint recognition, one touch elecrtric windows and rear heated seats. The GT-Line S model is the only one in the range which can be specced with a heat pump, which costs £950.

The Kia EV6 also comes with two motor options, with the choice between a single motor with 225bhp and a dual motor with 320bhp, this does add £3,500 to the price, however.

Availability

Orders for the new Kia EV6 start today, 2nd September 2024 and the first deliveries will start in Q3 2024.
