Volvo Trucks Sweden has just launched a new long-range version of the FH Electric HGV truck. This truck has a maximum range of 373 miles or 600km on one charge.
Volvo has said that this new launch is a "breakthrough" and its development of e-axle, the trucks drivetrain is what has allowed for increased space for more batteries.
The previous version has six battery packs, with a total of 540kWh and a range of 186 miles or 300km. It is not yet known the exact battery capacity of this new longer range version, but considering the it has been doubled, it might be getting close to 1,000kWh.
The Volvo FH Electric can be had as either a sleeper cab or two sizes of Globetrotter. Charging speeds are currently rated at 43kW AC, which takes around 9.5 hours and 250kW DC, which takes 2.5 hours.
Volvo is planning on releasing more information about this new HGV soon and sales willl start in the second half of 2025. Prices are not yet known.
