Vauxhall and Opel to become electric only by 2028

Vauxhall and Opel to become electric only by 2028

Stellantis, which owns many brands including Fiat, Peugeot, Jeep, Vauxhall and Opel have announced that it’ll start investing around $30 billion (£21.8 billion) into developing new electrification products for the 14 brands it owns. Stellantis wants to take the Vauxhall-Opel into the electric future and it aims that it’ll become an all electric brand by 2028 in the UK and Europe, to coincide with the 2030 deadline here in the UK.

Vauxhall and Opel will become an electric only brand in Europe by the end of 2028 and this includes standard cars as well as the range of commercial vehicles in production, with Stellantis brands the platform for the vans are shared and every van on offer each has an electric version already on sale.

Peugeot will be adapting faster, with an all electric line up on offer by 2025, but no date yet on when it’ll become an electric only brand. Fiat actually announced earlier in June that by 2030 it would become an EV only brand by 2030 and the same goes for Abarth.
