Volkswagen ID.3 order books have opened in Germany

The new all electric ID.3 is set to go on sale here in the UK in July with the first deliveries set to start later this year in September. A few days ago the new ID.3 went on sale in Germany starting at €39,995.

Three trim levels are available, 1st, 1st Plus and 1st Max. The ‘1st’ trim level comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, DAB+ radio, heated leather multifunctional steering wheel, heated front seats and the “Discover Pro” navigation system.

‘1st Plus’ adds larger 19-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED matrix headlights, LED rear lights with strobing indicators, keyless entry, electric mirrors, rear view camera and chrome trim. Two USB-C ports in the rear of the car are added too. 1st Plus also has ambient lighting, similar to the Golf 8 with 30 different colours to choose from and the rear windows and back window are all tinted.

‘1st Max’ adds 20-inch alloy wheels, heads up display, heat pump, lane assist and emergency assist, massage seats, panoramic roof and a 6.1 stereo system.

All 1st edition ID.3 models in Germany come with the performance upgrade, which VW is saying is around 2 seconds faster from 0-60mph. All have fast charging, 100kW DC or 11kW AC. All the 1st edition models have the same 58kW battery pack.

VW is also selling the ID. Charger, in three different models. Designed for home installation and starting from €399, ID. Charger Connect for €599 and the ID. Charger Pro for €849. All models charge up to 11kW maximum. ID. Charger just has a cable included, ID. Charger Connect can be connected to the WiFi or wired ethernet for remote access and control and for €200 extra, unlimited 4G. The ID. Charger Pro has unlimited 4G remote control as well as WiFi or wired ethernet but also comes with an ‘MID certified energy meter’.

With the exclusive 1st edition models of the ID.3, VW is also giving customers one year free of charging with chargers on the public network that are registerd with ‘We Charge’

VW ID.3 1st Edition models are now on sale in Germany. 1st is €39,995, 1st Plus is €45,995 and the 1st Max is €49,995.
