X raises prices for its Premium Plus subscription tier

X (Formally Twitter) has announced plans to increase prices for its Premium Plus subscription, which were increased on 21st December 2024 for anyone new signing up to the service. Existing users do have a little bit longer, with prices jumping up on 20th January 2025. This price increase is only affecting the Premium Plus subscription tier and the Basic and Premium plans remain unchanged.

In the US, the Basic Plan is $3.60 per month and gives you things like encrypted direct messages, reply boost, the ability to post longer videos as well as being able to edit posts. Jumping up to Premium costs $9.60 and gives you the blue checkmark, access to the Grok AI assistant, X Pro and much more. The Premium Plus plan used to be $16 per month and is now $26.40 per month. This plan adds real time trends data with Radar, goes fully ad-free and the largest reply boost.

For the annual plan of Premium Plus, this also jumps up from $168 to $229. In the UK, Basic is £3.60/month, Premium at £9.60 and Premium Plus at £20.40 per month. For the annual plans they work out at £38.40/year for Basic, £100.80 for Premium and £210/year for Premium Plus.

This is actually the largest price increase that X has seen so far for US users at least, since Elon Musk purchased the platform in 2022.
