Ford has delayed Mach-E orders, due to chip shortages

Ford has delayed the shipments of its latest electric car, the Mustang Mach-E. Chip shortages are affecting a lot of different industries, the new M1 iMac still has around a month of lead time between ordering and getting it and modern cars are now essentially computers on wheels and need a lot of chips and Ford is having a hard time getting them. Ford has informed customers waiting that it could be a delay of around six weeks.

Ford has however offered customers a nice perk in return, customers will be offered a free 250kWh worth of charging for your house, which is enough to take the Mustang Mach-E around 700 miles.

Ford sent the following to customers:

“We’d like you to know that while we’re working nonstop to deliver your very own Mustang Mach-E vehicle, we project your vehicle delivery will be delayed by a minimum of six weeks. Once your vehicle receives the required chip, your vehicle status will be updated, and you’ll receive an email with an estimated week of delivery.”

Earlier this year, Ford also had a hard time getting hold of chips for the F-150 pickup in the USA, meaning production had to be reduced.
