Mini is planing on bringing production of the iconic Cooper range back to the UK, when the all new Mini Cooper range launches in 2024. The company will be building only the petrol version of the cars in Oxford, with the convertible and hatchback models. For the electric Mini, production is set to be moved to China, where the new model will share a platform with Chinese car maker Great Wall.

Mini will be launching an all new range of models in 2024, set to be called just Mini Cooper with the Cooper name becoming a dedicated model name as opposed to a trim level. However, once the range is launched the all new petrol convertible is set to be made in Oxford once again.

For the all-electric Mini Cooper, only a three-door version will be made so no five door hatch or Clubman on the horizon. Mini will however be launching the new Mini Aceman crossover which will be providing a five door option for those customers who need it.

In the future, more powerful John Cooper Works models are going to be a part of the Mini going forward, with tuned versions of the electric and petrol cars planned.
