Cupra has recently added more choice to the engine lineup for the Leon hatchback and estate. The two new engines offer some middle ground between the plug-in-hybrid and the more raucous, 242bhp and 306bhp offerings. The Leon is one of two models that Cupra offers which is also available as an equivalent Seat. The Seat version of the Leon is pretty well specced the same and in some versions, close on prices too.

Cupra is offering a 2.0-litre petrol, with 187bhp which comes with a seven-speed DSG gearbox. 0-60mph is handled in around 7.2 seconds, with a top speed of 141mph. This model costs from £33,170 in the UK.

The next model is a 1.5-litre petrol, with a bit less power at 148bhp. This is available with a manual, six speed or the same DSG from the 2.0-litre. Price in the UK is from £30,875 for the manual and £32,985 for the DSG.

Inside, Cupra offers standard equipment such as 18-inch alloy wheels, 12-inch infotainment screen, keyless go and adaptive cruise control. Being a more sporty model, there are Cupra drive modes to further enhance the driving experience.

The new engine options for the Cupra are available now, priced from £30,875.
