Renault 4 is now available as a commercial van in France

Renault 4 E-Tech van

Car derived vans are seemingly back, as Renault has introduced a new van version of the 4 and its on sale now in France. Renault has it listed for €35,160 (just over £30,000) and for now it'll only be available on the continent as it is being evaluated for a UK launch.

These types of vehicles have always had a place, ideal for last mile deliveries or use cases where less load is required. Using a van that is essentially a car, helps reduce the cost of running as nearly always, they do better on fuel - or in this case on electricity.

Without the rear seats, the Renault 4 van has a 1,045 litre cargo area and underneath the floor, there is an additional 55 litres - ideal for charging cables and other random accessories. This is only suitable for lighter loads though, as the payload is 375kg.

Behind the front seats is a mesh bulkhead or it can be specified with a load cover instead - depending on what you need.

Just like the passenger version of the Renault 4, the van version has just the one battery option, 52kWh. This offers 254 miles WLTP and is capable of 11kW AC charging and 100kW DC.
