Dacia has revealed a new commercial vehicle version of the Dacia Spring, and it has become the cheapest new electric van in the UK. When you exclude the VAT, which for business vehicles makes sense and factor in the governments £2,500 Plug-in Van Grant, the Spring Cargo comes out at £13,145. Without the grant, it still would be a very reasonable £14,995 (exc VAT).

Dacia Spring Cargo

The Spring Cargo is obviously very similar to the passenger version, but Dacia has actually based it on the top-spec Extreme version. This means you get a 64bhp electric motor, a 26.8kWh battery pack and DC fast charging, which is up to 30kW. That DC speed means that a 20-80% charge can take up to 45 minutes. Range is 140 miles on single charge.

Just like the passenger version, This means though that, the Spring Cargo is probably best suited to the city, which is probably where Dacia have envisioned this being used anyway. This could be very useful as a city delivery vehicle for Uber Eats, or on demand couriering. The load area is pretty large given the size of the vehicle too, with 1,085 litres of space available and a max payload of 370kg. In the back, all the passenger seats have been removed and a net in-between the front and back sections of the car has been added.

Just like the passenger Extreme model, this one gets the same 10-inch infotainment screen, reversing camera as well as manual air conditioning. Dacia is expecting to start the first delveries to customers by the end of 2024.
