Fiat has today revealed a new EV grant for customers of the electric Fiat 500 and 500C. Dubbed the ‘Fiat E-Grant’ the company will be offering this immediately as of today and gives customers £3,000 off the price of the two models. This is after the UK government got rid of the Plug-in Car Grant last June.

The Fiat 500 and 500C electric are on sale now from £28,195 for the hatchback and £34,195 for the convertible, with that grant the car now starts at £25,195 in the UK – making it one of the cheapest electric cars on sale today.

“There’s no doubt the government’s Plug-in Car Grant successfully kick-started the UK’s electric car revolution. However, with the cost of living crisis and rising cost of electric vehicles, coupled with our net-zero climate targets, we believe more needs to be done to incentivise individuals to be able to afford to make the switch.”

Fiat UK MD – Damien Dally

The Plug-in Car Grant in the UK was axed in June 2022 and over the years it dropped from £5,000 in 2011 down to £1,500 just before it was canned. In response, Fiat has written an open letter to the UK government asking for help to encourage EV adoption in the UK. The company claims that EV sales have “plateaued”, even through the SMMT has said that EV sales have gone up by 25.6% from 2022 to 2023.
