Ford has today revealed the all new seventh generation Ford Mustang, which will come to the UK in 2023. Ford unveiled the car at an outdoor event in Detroit today and will go on sale in the UK and other territories in 2023. However, this could be the last model in its entire 58 year history, with the push the electrification stronger than ever.

The new model is essentially a facelift of the outgoing car, with an angular redesign and all new cockpit, with wraparound screens. It even sits on the same platform as the previous generation, as opposed to be sitting on the newer Ford Explorer architecture. Ford is also keeping any form of electrification away for the Mustang for now, instead reserving that for the all electric Mustang Mach-E. The new Mustang is also not gifted with the latest driver assistance that newer models now have.

Powering the new Ford Mustang isn’t the same old engine. Ford has kept the same 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 on offer, but the 2.3-litre turbocharged Ecoboost four-cylinder has been reworked, with a new turbo and new bore. Ford has said that both engines do have more power now, but the company is yet to reveal any official figures.

Inside, Ford has reworked the tech with a new giant screen setup. You get a 12.3-inch digital drivers display and a 13.2-inch infotainment screen, running Sync4 which works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Like the Mustang Mach-E, the new Mustang can be updated over the air with new software releases and improvements, as needed.

Design wise on the outside, Ford has now worked to make some visual differences between the Ecoboost and the V8 for the first time. The Ecoboost gets a less aggressive front end, with a single pair of headlights. The GT V8 adds a black gloss grille and two air intakes,

Ford has confirmed RHD production and will come to the UK, Japan and Australia. Deliveries will start by the end of 2023. Pricing has not yet been confirmed.
