Chinese tech company, Xiaomi has only been manufacturing cars since late March 2024, and in that short amount of time, the company has already made 100,000 electric SU7 cars. Xiaomi founder Lei Jun shared a the news on his Weibo page today. The incredibly popular SU7 is manufactured under a subsidiary of Xiaomi called Xiaomi Automobile and it is reposinble for the electric SU7 as well as any upcoming cars that the company has planned. What is also mind boggling is that it was only three years ago when Xiaomi even announced any plans to start manufacturing EVs.
"Netizens urged me to go to the factory to tighten the screws. Actually, I go there often. I arrived early this morning. I came too early and took a nap in the workshop.
Unexpectedly, when I woke up, 100,000 units had been completed!
From the release of SU7 to today, it took us only 230 days to produce 100,000 units! As a newcomer in the automotive industry, this speed is already very remarkable. We will hold a ceremony for the 100,000th unit to come off the production line later."

The electric SU7 has been extremely popular in China, and even Jim Farley the Ford CEO has been driving one in Chicago and admitted in a recent podcast with Robert Llewelyn, that he loves the car and doesn't want to give it back. Some serious praise. The SU7 has smartphone like trim levels and comes in Standard, Pro and Max. Pricing is very competitive, starting at RMB 215,900 which works out at just £23,500. That gets you a large 74kWh battery, 434 mile range and 5.3 seconds from 0-60mph. The Pro has a 94kWh pack and does 515 miles on one charge.
At this rate, Xiaomi could likely hit 120,000 SU7 cars built before the end of 2024.
