Genesis updates the Electrified GV70, now with NACS and more range

At the LA Auto Show last week, Genesis showed off the updated Genesis GV70 Electrified, which will be going on sale in the US in the first half of 2025. It'll also be coming to the UK and Europe at some stage too, with the dates for that unconfirmed currently. For the US market, the most significant change is the addition of the Tesla NACS port, meaning GV70 drivers can now access more Tesla Superchargers, making long distance travelling cheaper and easier. The new car has some design refinements and a brand new look for the interior.

NACS Port

This isn't very relevant for the market outside of the United States, but like a lot of the car manufacturers selling in the US, Genesis has now added native Tesla NACS support to the new GV70. This is the same connector that Tesla vehicles in the US use and it means that the GV70 will be able to easily use Tesla Superchargers. As of writing there are over 36,000 chargers in the US that use the NACS connector. The new GV70 comes with the NACS connector and an adapter for CCS DC fast chargers too.

The Tesla Supercharger locations in pretty much every country they operate in, drastically undercut the other CPO networks and make it more affordable. In some places in the UK, Tesla is over 50% cheaper than other networks.

Larger Battery

For the new GV70 Electrified, Genesis has also increased the size of the battery. In the previous car, it was 77.4kWh and we now have a 84kWh pack. This same battery increase has also happened with the updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 and this added 15 miles of range. As of writing, Genesis hasn't revealed any specifiucaitns just yet.

Design Changes

The outside of the GV70 hasn't changed a whole lot, but new 19-inch and 21-inch alloy wheels have been added and the indicator lights at the back now match the iconic two line light design. Inside is where most of the changes have taken place however. The separate infotainment and driver display arrangement has been ditched, opting for a more clean look, similar in look to the other Kia, Hyundai and Genesis models. The new GV70 gets a 27-inch OLED screen, with both the infotainment and drivers display combined into one.

Availability

In the US at least, Genesis will start making the new Electrified GV70 available in early 2025. In Europe and the UK, it is expected to launch here, but as of writing the company hasn't confirmed this yet.
